About Ozempic Breast
Sagging skin is a well-documented complication of rapid weight loss. Our skin has a natural elasticity that helps it to grow or shrink as our bodies change, but it can be stretched to a point of no return with obesity. Some patients can lose weight and have their skin revert to a normal fit, but it is increasingly common for patients to be left with excess skin after their weight loss, especially with more and more people losing massive amounts of weight quickly with GLP-1 medications. Many patients see this excess skin as another frustrating hurdle to overcome after an arduous weight loss journey.
The breasts are especially susceptible to sagging after GLP-1 medication usage. Because the breasts are fat deposits, many women will likely lose mass in their breasts when taking these medications. A loss of fat and reduction in skin health in the breasts can result in a condition known as breast ptosis. This is very common in older women and is defined by deflated, sagging breasts and nipple descent. This change in the appearance of breasts can significantly affect one’s self-esteem and emotional well-being. (1) The nipple-areola complex, the tissue that we simply refer to as the nipple, is built on an intricate network of skin and fat cells. Age, hormonal changes, weight loss, and more can all cause decreased collagen production, which results in sagging skin due to a lack of structural support. This can be especially common in the breasts, where a loss of underlying fat can compound these issues.
Fortunately, breast enhancement is one of the largest and most practiced fields in cosmetic medicine, and Dr. Grunberg has countless hours of experience to rely on to provide you with optimal results that help restore breast appearance and help you feel like your best self.
- Breast Lift – A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that raises and reshapes sagging breasts.
- Breast Augmentation – Breast augmentation involves placing implants either under the breast tissue or beneath the chest muscle to achieve the desired breast volume and contour.
- Augmentation with Lift – Breast augmentation with lift is a combined surgical procedure that enhances the shape, size, and position of the breasts.
Benefits
Significant breast sagging can cause neck and back pain, and some patients may even experience rashes and chafing on their chest because of their breasts. Treatment offers many benefits, including:
- Restoration of Shape: Enhance the breasts’ natural shape and symmetry after weight loss.
- Improved Positioning: Elevate breasts to a more youthful position, which can be visually appealing and comfortable.
- Skin Tightening: Remove excess skin for a firmer look and feel.
- Nipple Repositioning: Corrects the position of the nipples, achieving more beautiful aesthetics.
- Enhanced Confidence: Many patients report increased self-esteem and satisfaction with their appearance.
- Procedural customization: Dr. Grunberg will carefully listen to your goals when planning your procedure. You will be able to collaborate with her and the team at Alluring Aesthetics to plan a procedure that is customized to your expectations and provides you with effective results.
Candidates
Having lost weight with GLP-1 medications like semaglutide or tirzepatide is not a requirement to receive a breast enhancement procedure from Dr. Grunberg. The procedures and treatments mentioned here can help any patient with breast ptosis, regardless of its cause, achieve their image goals.
Ideal candidates for these procedures are those who are in good overall health and do not smoke. Exceptions can be made for patients who are willing to quit several weeks before their procedure. Patients who respond best to their results are those with realistic expectations for their outcome and communicate clearly with Dr. Grunberg during their planning.
Personal Consultation
If you would benefit from a breast enhancement procedure, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Grunberg and begin planning your treatment. At this appointment, you will discuss the history of your breast sagging and weight loss journey. You will also explain your goals and explore different procedures to help you achieve them. Dr. Grunberg will review your medical history to rule out any risks of complications. Once she has collected the necessary information, she will plan your procedure to your unique specifications.
Preparation
You will receive preparation instructions once you have planned and scheduled your procedure. You can expect to:
- Quit smoking and using nicotine products (if this applies to you)
- Alter your medication regimen as instructed
- Fill medication prescriptions given to you by Dr. Grunberg
- Arrange transportation to and from your procedure
Procedure
Breast ptosis and Ozempic breast treatments typically involve either a breast lift or a breast augmentation procedure. Many patients will receive a combination of these (breast augmentation with lift) during their treatment to create the best results possible. These procedures will be performed with the patient under general anesthesia to minimize discomfort.
Breast Lift
Breast lifts are helpful for patients who want to raise and tighten their breasts, but not for those who are looking to add more volume. (1) While there are many variations in the incisions, treatment areas, points of access, and other techniques employed in breast lift procedures, all follow a similar path of removing excess tissue, tightening muscle and skin, and repositioning the nipple. (2) Whichever methods are employed for your case, all will take special care to minimize scarring, ensure symmetry between the nipples, reduce your recovery time, and create natural-looking results.
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation uses implants or fat grafts to create a fuller, enhanced appearance in breasts. Implants are very common and are an effective means to help women achieve the results they desire. With these procedures, either saline or silicone implants will be placed into a woman’s breast. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes; thus, they can be customized to match your goals. While implants are a helpful and safe solution, many patients are not comfortable with having a foreign filler medium placed into their bodies. For these patients, we recommend a fat transfer.
Autologous fat transfers use a patient’s body fat as the filler medium to enhance the breasts. Many doctors have started to prefer this method of augmentation over implants because of fat’s natural biocompatibility. Because the filler material comes from the body, your immune system does not recognize it as a foreign entity and can focus on healing rather than fighting foreign bodies. (3) Fat used to augment your breasts will be grafted via liposuction from a fat deposit elsewhere on your body.
Recovery & Results
Recovery time varies but generally involves rest and follow-up appointments within the initial week post-surgery.
- Immediate Post-Operative Care: Patients will need someone to drive them home. Pain medications and antibiotics will be prescribed.
- Swelling and Bruising: Expect swelling and potential bruising for the first few weeks.
- Activity Restrictions: Avoid strenuous activities for at least several weeks. Low-impact activities can usually be resumed in about one week.
- Follow-Up Appointments: Attend follow-up appointments to monitor progress and ensure proper healing.
Most patients return to their normal routines within a few weeks, appreciating gradual improvements in comfort and mobility. Dr. Grunberg will assist you through each step, ensuring optimal recovery and satisfaction.
Patients often comment on increased confidence levels and satisfaction with their new body proportions. Scars are generally discreet and fade with time.

FAQ
What causes Ozempic breast?
Ozempic breast is caused by a loss of fat and a decrease in skin health in the breasts after weight is lost rapidly with GLP-1 medications.
How do you fix Ozempic breast?
Ozempic breast can be addressed with breast lift and augmentation procedures customized according to individual patient needs.
What is the difference between a breast lift and breast augmentation?
A breast lift, or mastopexy, removes excess skin and tightens tissue to lift the breasts to sit higher on the body. Breast augmentation procedures add implants or another filler medium to increase the volume of the breasts as well as rejuvenate their appearance.
Are implants always necessary?
Implants are not always necessary. Dr. Grunberg can help you achieve the results you are seeking with fat transfers, but some patient’s goals may require implants, especially if they do not have enough fat to spare.
